Why an artistic QR code may not scan

Troubleshoot image QR codes with contrast, blend strength, quiet borders, image detail, and realistic phone and print checks.

Create your photo QR code

Separate design problems from link problems

If the camera never recognizes the code, investigate the image and QR pattern. If it recognizes the code but the page fails to load, check the encoded URL and destination website. Changing the photo cannot fix a broken link.

Reduce the blend strength

Strong photo blending can reduce the contrast between light and dark modules. Lower strength, switch to grayscale, and try a simpler high-contrast photo. Scan after each change so you know which adjustment helps.

Preserve the clear border

Keep the light quiet zone around the code. Avoid cropping the export tightly, covering the corner markers, or placing decorative borders against the pattern. Check that the design software did not stretch the PNG or blur its edges.

Test the real use case

Test the downloaded PNG, not just the large preview. Check different phones, lighting, screen brightness, and the intended viewing distance. For printed materials, scan a physical proof before ordering a batch. Use a larger or simpler code if the small version fails.

Know what error correction can and cannot do

The generator uses high error correction and preserves important QR regions, but an artistic result still needs testing. Error correction does not guarantee that any amount of image blending, cropping, or low contrast will work.
